Alex & The List

(NR) 1 Hr. 54 Min.

Alex, a lovable, unassuming dog trainer is in love with a great woman - Katherine - smart, talented, from a good family. Katherine adores Alex's quirky sense of humor, honesty and capacity to listen. Having decided to pop the question, Alex is blindsided when Katherine produces a detailed list of well-thought-out "improvements" she feels will tweak Alex on their way to becoming the ideal couple. Alex instinctively rejects the suggestion that he needs to change anything. But with the threat of a new competitor, Alex decides to "do the list." Guided by a coterie of friends that include: Dave, Alex's loyal childhood buddy, best female friend Lily, her husband Michael, and their 8-year-old son, Nicky, Alex's journey has him reconsider and question his beliefs, values and world.

Sweet Country

Opens Fri. May 4

(R) 1 Hr. 53 Min. (Digital) In English (Action & Adventure, Drama)

Set in Australia’s Northern Territory, Sweet Country follows Sam, a middle-aged Aboriginal man who gets caught in a shootout with his ill-tempered neighbor.  When he kills Harry, a white man, in self defense, Sam becomes a wanted man and is forced to flee with his wife across the outback. “The spare, classical chase drama that ensues is seeded with barbed observations on colonialism, cultural erasure and rough justice, kept poetically succinct by Thornton's lithe, soaring visual storytelling.” – Guy Lodge of Variety

Love and Bananas: An Elephant Story

Opens Fri. May 4

(Doc) 1 Hr. 17 Mins. (Digital) In English

This documentary follows actor/director Ashley Bell and a team of elephant rescuers in Thailand. Embarking on a daring 480-mile mission across Thailand, the team is led by Time Magazine’s Hero of Asia, Lek Chailert. Their goal is to rescue Noi Na, a 70-year-old, partially blind trekking elephant and bring her to freedom. Love & Bananas aims to ignite a new way of thinking about this species and shows what can be done to prevent the extinction of Asian elephants.
A portion of every ticket sold will directly benefit PAWS (The Performing Animal Welfare Society), a nonprofit rescue located in San Andreas, CA, that provides a humane sanctuary for animals who have been the victims of the exotic and performing animal trades. At PAWS, which is home to three Asian and five African elephants, big cats and bears, rescued animals live in peaceful, natural habitats, free from fear, chains, and harsh confinement. They are at complete liberty to act out natural behaviors in the comfort of their individually designed enclosures.
For information about supporting PAWS and monthly tours, go to www.pawsweb.org.  You may also make a donation to PAWS with your ticket purchase.
