Walk With Me is an inspirational, meditative film about a community of Zen Buddhist monks and nuns who have dedicated their lives to mastering the art of mindfulness with their world-famous teacher Thich Nhat Hanh.  Each of the three nights Walk With Me is being shown, there will be a 12- to 15-minute guided meditation preceding the film at 7 p.m.  On Mon., Sept. 18 and Wed. Sept. 20, Susie Fagundes, a well-known consciousness coach, who is also a licensed minister, Reiki Master and an intuitive Theta(TM) practitioner, will lead the meditation as she does for groups and private classes at her Downtown Modesto business Intrinsic Elements. New nations are rarely born in peace... India, 1947: Lord Mountbatten (Hugh Bonneville) is dispatched, along with his wife Edwina (Gillian Anderson), to New Delhi to oversee the country's transition from British rule to independence. Taking his place in the resplendent mansion known as the Viceroy's House, Mountbatten arrives hopeful for a peaceful transference of power. But ending centuries of colonial rule in a country divided by deep religious and cultural differences proves no easy undertaking, setting off a seismic struggle that threatens to tear India apart. With sumptuous period detail, director Gurinder Chadha brings to life a pivotal historical moment that re-shaped the world.

Dolores Huerta is among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history. An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Dolores tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice alongside Chavez, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century-and she continues the fight to this day, at 87. With intimate and unprecedented access to this intensely private mother to 11, the film reveals the raw, personal stakes involved in committing one's life to social change. Directed by Peter Bratt (La Mission).
The timing of this film showing at The State coincides with the observance of National Hispanic Heritage Month ( Sept. 15~Oct. 15), a celebration of the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
